HIGH COURT OF J&K CANCELLED THE ROUTINE SUMMER VACATIONS



On Monday, June 1, 2020 Chief Justice Gita Mittal, passed an order deciding to cancel the summer vacations of the High Court & the subordinate court of J&K and Ladakh.Due to National Lockdown,the functioning of court has been adversely affected. Nine other judges of High Court responded and supported the decision to cancel the summer vacations of High Court, District Court and other subordinate court of UTs. Now the summer vacation for this year has been cancelled and the court will be functioning from 8th June to 26th June 2020.


Justice Mittal Further added “Considering the severe hardships faced by the litigants in the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh due to the impended functioning of the courts on account of lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19”. She further noted that “it would be highly inappropriate and unjustified to proceed with the ensuring summer vacation in the High Court of J&K and Subordinate Courts In Jammu Division”
